SUMMARY:Richard Ormrod\, piano and Mary Hofman\, violin
DESCRIPTION:When Shakespeare said that all the world’s a stage it is unlikely that even he thought of one nestled in a tree on a Snowdonian hillside! That is where tonight’s Passacaglia is performed\, in the Gwydir forest above the home of Richard and Mary.  \nClub members will recall composer Rhian Samuel writing a piece for the Beethoven violin sonata series\, “Beethoven in Wales”. Her husband\, Curtis Price\, was Principal of the Royal Academy but\, since retiring\, has an interest in building upright harpsichords and the Bach Partita will be the first recording on his new instrument from Aberdovey. Curtis has given his account of the building of the clavicytherium on: Ormrod recording       All this makes the indoor performance of Mozart seem quite trivial in comparison.\n \nJ.S.Bach: Partita no.6 on the Clavicytherium   \nH.I.F.Biber: Passacaglia from the trees  \nW.A.Mozart: Sonata in B flat major K. 454  \nhttp://richardormrod.co.uk/duo/ \nClick here to donate                 Supported by

SUMMARY:Elizaveta Saul violin\, Ana Manastireanu piano
DESCRIPTION:Elizaveta\, from Belarus and Ana\, from Romania\, are currently at the Royal College of Music\, where Elizaveta is studying for a Master’s degree and Ana is a junior fellow doing her Artist Diploma.. Elizaveta came to Rhyl three seasons ago with her string quartet to accompany pianists from Chetham’s in Mozart concertos and guaranteed that she would return to Rhyl. The plan is that she will do so with Ana next season but meanwhile we have the pleasure of this virtual premiere.  \nBoth musicians have considerable experience and have gained awards. Elizaveta has a full RCM scholarship and was a Drake Calleja scholar.. She has performed across Europe and currently holds a Lydia Napper Award at RCM and a Stephen Bell Trust scholarship. Ana is a Kenneth and Violet Scott artist and studies with Roger Vignoles among others.  \nThe recording takes place at RCM and\, in case you wonder about the violin\, it is a Tononi and on loan from RCM.   \nTheir programme includes a Fauré violin sonata and the César Franck sonata.  \nhttps://youtu.be/q5KazeM5VCk \nThis concert is being supported by Mr & Mrs R G Parry  \nhttps://www.facebook.com/elizaveta.saul  \nhttps://www.rcm.ac.uk/fellowships/constantkitlambert/\n \nClick here to donate

SUMMARY:Rose McLachlan\, piano and Isobel Coughlan\, soprano.
DESCRIPTION:Rose has already played concertos twice in Rhyl and a solo recital in January this year to great acclaim. So it will be a great pleasure to hear her again\, this time in the company of Isobel\, a singer friend from their time together at Chetham’s.  \nRose will doubtless tire of botanical analogies such as her rapid growth as a pianist and how she is climbing the musical trellis of success. Of course we know she is being well nurtured and trained\, but it is greatly satisfying to her audiences in clubs such as ours to witness her development at first hand.  Isobel has performed Arne’s Morning Cantata on Radio 3 and is now going to study at Kings College\, London\, on a choral scholarship. Their programme is: \n\nJ.S.Bach: Partita no. 6 in E minor- Toccata\, Allemande and Gigue  \n F.Liszt: La leggierezza\nF.Chopin: B minor sonata 1st movement\n\nR.Schumann: Frauenliebe und Leben\n\nOur concert organiser writes: The Schumann should be something special as Rose confesses to being obsessed by this music which is exactly how I felt upon hearing his Kreisleriana for the first time. Frauenliebe und Leben is poetry about a girl meeting her future husband\, through marriage\, to death and after. The piano part is innovative in its contribution to the songs. I suppose the songs reflect much about Schumann’s life in relation to Clara Wieck whose father was opposed to the marriage. Surely this duo is an ideal pairing for this music.  \nhttps://metierrecords.co.uk/artist/rose-mclachlan/ \n \nCLICK HERE TO DONATE
