70 years of music making in Rhyl
North Wales' premier live classical music venue
Whilst venues such as Theatre Clwyd and Venue Cymru offer a small number of classical events, only Rhyl Music Club stages a series of 12 concerts every year. The roll-call of international names who we have been privileged to hear in our 70 year history includes Martha Argerich, John Lill, Bryn Terfel, John Ogden and Nigel Kennedy.
12 first class concerts, October through March. Plus a Summer Celebrity concert
Our alternate Wednesday evening concert season begins on 5 October 2016 and finishes on 22 March 2017.
One of the aims of the club each season is to support young musicians in North Wales who are thinking of a musical career. For the last two years we have sponsored school workshops given by our visiting artists who have also given master-classes as a prelude to their concerts.
Some of the best up-and-coming musicians in Europe
We have always striven, usually successfully, to attract the very best performers we can afford for our discerning audiences. From chamber orchestras to brass ensembles, string, piano, wind and percussionist soloists to choirs and singers, the aim is always to provide the highest quality of live music outside of the main urban centres. The 2015-16 season promises to be no exception.
Our own superb Bösendorfer grand piano
Since first acquiring a Steinway grand, the club has prided itself on being able to offer the top pianists an instrument of the highest quality. The current Bösendorfer is well able to handle both the exquisite tones of Llŷr Williams and the recent bravura performances of Andrew Wilde or his protegé Slava Sidorenko - they would soon let us know if it were not up to scratch!
Excellent acoustic of the refurbished Rhyl Town Hall
Probably one of the best concert halls on the North Wales coast, with a fine acoustic, the well furnished hall seats over 300 and has a bar and refreshment facilities. There are ample free parking spaces around the venue and the hall provides both wheelchair access and a lift.
