70 years of music making in Rhyl

Rhyl Music Club was founded by Michael Lewis MBE in 1947 and, as a member-run charitable organisation, plays a major rôle in the cultural life not only of the town but of the whole North Wales coast. We rely totally on our concertgoers, donations and fundraising to provide a platform for some of today's latest and best musicians as well as established stars in the field of classical music.

North Wales' premier live classical music venue

Whilst venues such as Theatre Clwyd and Venue Cymru offer a small number of classical events, only Rhyl Music Club
stages a series of 12 concerts every year. The roll-call of international names who we have been privileged to hear in our 70 year history includes Martha Argerich, John Lill, Bryn Terfel, John Ogden and Nigel Kennedy.

12 first class concerts, October through March. Plus a Summer Celebrity concert

One of the aims of the club each season is to support young musicians in North Wales who are thinking of a musical career. For the last three years we have sponsored school workshops led by our visiting artists who have also given master-classes as a prelude to their evening concerts.

Some of the best up-and-coming musicians in Europe

We have always striven, usually successfully, to attract the very best performers we can afford for our discerning
audiences. From chamber orchestras to brass ensembles, string, piano, wind and percussionist soloists to choirs and singers, the aim is always to provide the highest quality of live music outside of the main urban centres. The 2017-18 season promises to be no exception.

Our own superb Bösendorfer grand piano

Since first acquiring a Steinway grand, the club has prided itself on being able to offer the top pianists an instrument of the
highest quality. The current Bösendorfer is well able to handle both the exquisite tones of Ll
ŷr Williams and the bravura performances of Andrew Wilde or his protegé Slava Sidorenko - they would soon let us know if it were not up to scratch!

Excellent acoustic of the refurbished Rhyl Town Hall

Rhyl Town HallProbably one of the best concert halls on the North Wales coast, with a fine acoustic, the well furnished hall seats over 300 and has a bar and refreshment facilities. There are ample free parking spaces around the venue and the hall provides both wheelchair access and a lift.
